Camperdown - Robert Burns Festival (19th - 21st May 2017) The Robert Burns Festival was born out of the discovery of a Robert Burns statute in the Camperdown Botanic Gardens, one of the oldest outdoor statutes of Burns in the world. Originally gifted to the town in 1833 the statute was damaged by vandals in 2011 and in the process of restoration, the statue's history was uncovered.
Since then, the town has celebrated the regions Scottish heritage with a Robert Burns Festival. Highlights of the weekend include a diverse range of events focusing on local history, music, literature, dance, poetry, hill runs, workshops, food and the most annoying of Scottish sports, Golf. First Whale Sighting

Portland whale watchers have reporting the first Southern Right whale of the 2017
The single whale was sighted about 100 metres off shore at Cape Bridgewater around 2:30 on Thursday afternoon and although there hasn't been any subsequent sightings it is a good sign the whale watching season is off to an early start.
Last year a mother and calf spent the entire season in the bay at Portland and whale watchers in the city are hopeful this might signal a return of whales to the area.

Ocean Road Marathon

Great Ocean Road Running festival 20th-21st May 2017
The 2017 Great Ocean Road Running Festival will be held on May 20 - 21, 2017. Formerly known as the Great Ocean Road Marathon, the Great Ocean Road Running Festival is held in mid May each year and many well known national and international athletes, all eager to participate in this challenging event. The Great Ocean Road is an icon in Australia and is renowned throughout the world for its beauty and panoramic views of the southern ocean. Events over the weekend include a 60km ultra marathon, 44km marathon, half marathon plus 14 and 6 km fun runs

Fun 4 Kids Festival (5th - 9th July) returns this year with another high profile lineup including Frank Woodley, Jimmy Giggle, the Paw Patrol stage show, “Dreamworks” Trolls live show, plus another 20 live acts which will appear across the 5 days of the Fun4Kids festival. Casterton Kelpie Muster

The Casterton Kelpie Muster (10th - 11th June) is an annual event which showcases the Australian Kelpie which is Australia's only unique breed of dog. Originally a crossbred between Scottish Collies and the Australian Dingo, the breed is now recognised internationally and know for their intelligence and self reliance and their ability to work with minimal supervision.
The Casterton Muster is a unique event and attracts dog lovers from all over Australia .
